How did the Lenne Church come into existence?
The church was built in 2019 on the initiative of Gerhild & Jürgen Gütting, Nicole & Stefan Rapp and Melissa & Frank Lütkenhues. The first service took place on September 22nd, 2019 in the living room of our founding members Gerhild and Jürgen Gütting. Due to the Corona pandemic and the lockdown imposed in March 2020, we had to put the founding of the Lenne Church on hold. Occasionally meetings were possible, but most services took place online via Zoom. We were only able to take further steps in 2021. In March 2021, the Lenne Church was recognized as a founding congregation in the FeG Bund. On May 23rd 2023 at Pentecost we celebrated the first public service as an open air event on the Ahorn. Since October 2021 we have been meeting in the rooms of the Nachrodt Secondary School, which we rent on Sundays.
Our vision for the Lenne Church
- We want to be a church in which God's love can be felt. Every individual is seen, experiences appreciation and an encouraging community. We want to celebrate our differences - with all the associated strengths and weaknesses. Everyone should feel welcome and accepted.
- We want to be a church where strangers become friends. Everyone should be able to experience the love of God through love for one another and through the way we meet as equals. We especially want to treat children with open arms and love to show them how loved and valuable they are.
- We want to be a church where people get to know God, become disciples and continually grow in their faith. We want to be a motivating and challenging church that conveys biblical content and Christian values and lives authentically in an increasingly secular society.
- We want to be a church that communicates God's Word clearly and understandably so that people can recognize and implement God's plan for their lives. We are constantly evolving, boldly trying new things and staying in tune with the times while the message remains the same.
- We want to be a church where people experience real change through God's power, become free of pride and fear, and are willing to passionately invest in their place in society and the church. We can experience God’s grace, peace and joy every day. We are free from pressure to perform because we understand that the fruit of our labor is God’s job.
- We want to be a church that loves God and whose worship comes from the heart. We want to praise, praise and worship God together - through music and creativity. But also with our words and actions. We are constantly looking for him. We need him, we trust him and we listen to him.
- We want to be a church that encourages people to discover, develop and use their God-given potential for His glory. We want to encourage everyone to take responsibility and get actively involved so that their church can be built. To this end, we are particularly invested in the next generation to grow and equip strong and servant leaders.
- We want to be a church that leads as one and loves community. We have fun and enjoy life. The joy of the Lord is 'actually' our strength, because even if everything in life doesn't always go perfectly, we want to be grateful. We prefer to talk to each other rather than about each other, we don't take ourselves too seriously, we learn from mistakes and celebrate every success together.
- We want to be a praying church. We believe greatly and expect great work from God. We want to stand up for each other and for the people in our community. We want to pray for our government and all the peoples of the world. We want to pray for Christians, especially those who are being persecuted around the world. We want to strive to recognize God's will for our church and to implement it.
- We want to be a serving church that cares about the needs and needs of those around us. We want to take their needs seriously and work to alleviate suffering. We want to be generous with our finances and practical help. We want to positively influence and help shape coexistence in our town.
